Ella Grey Designs is a boutique interior design company created by Danielle Steiding & Vanessa Albaneze.
I love sophisticated interiors with a touch of whimsy. I am drawn to the creative and unexpected, similar to some of the design elements of the store Anthropologie. I am not afraid to take chances with color, especially paint. I have repainted my living room three times in 5 years, and yes, painted a piano. Once I get an idea and my creativity starts flowing, there is little that will stop my vision.
I love old pieces of furniture that tell a story-rustic patinated woods and chipping layers of paint mixed with more modern pieces. Natural elements such as ferns and succulents, driftwood and shells bring the art of nature into a space.
Aside from designing for my clients, I am a public school art teacher and mom. I live in the charming south shore village of Babylon with my husband and two small children, Julian Grey, and Violette Delphine, where we play and renovate our small cape cod house. Stay tuned for completed renovation photos!
I love clean, simple interiors... interiors that mix whites, linens, brass and natural fibers. My home is where I want to feel a sense of calm and peace. Light, air, and beach are all elements that come to mind when I consider my spaces.
Besides being a designer I am also an art teacher and a licensed real estate salesperson. I adore teaching and I am inspired daily by my students. As a real estate professional I enjoy house-hunting and staging homes to be listed. (I also like to think I am a Long Island version of Joanna Gaines... selling homes to my buyers and then fixing them up! See the Waterside Kitchen for an example)
My husband Ethan Sand is a furniture maker who specializes in slab furniture &modern farmhouse tables. We mix his organic furniture with modern elements... such as lucite chairs with our long oak slab dining table. We are continually working on our home together... one room at a time.
We live in a small house in the seaside village of Northport with our daughter Sofia Ella and our french bulldog Olive.
